Government Funding for ADHD Coaching

Simple steps to apply for over $1,600 a year in ADHD coaching support through the Employment Assistance Fund.

Many ADHDers face challenges in the workplace due to aspects of their neurodivergence, such as executive functioning difficulties, procrastination, overwhelm, burnout, trouble prioritising and managing workload, and communication or interpersonal challenges.

The good news is there’s a little-known federally funded scheme – the Employment Assistance Fund – which offers up to $1,642 annually for ADHD Coaching. Huzzah!

What is the Employment Assistance Fund (EAF)?

The EAF is for people with disability and mental health conditions and their employers, who may need workplace changes, equipment or services to support them to do their job or get a job.

I don’t consider myself to have a disability though …

That’s ok, not all ADHDers do!  However ADHD is recognised as a disability in Australia under the 1992 Disability Discrimination Act (although it is not considered a primary disability under the NDIS but can be considered alongside a coexisting eligible condition).

How do I know if I’m eligible?

To be eligible for the EAF, you must:

  • be an Australian resident aged 14 or over

  • have an ADHD diagnosis (or other disability, including psychosocial)

  • have a job, or have been offered a job, where the work will go for at least 13 weeks (job seekers may also be able to apply)

  • be working at least 8 hours a week

  • If you're self-employed, you must have been working at least 8 hours per week for the past 13 weeks and earning at least the national minimum wage

  • The application process takes around 30 minutes

  • You do not need to disclose your diagnosis to your employer
